Amy and I have been running all kinds a' crazy up in this joint. It all started with a 5k run (see my post about triathlons for more info), when we realized we could actually run 3 miles without stopping if we just tried. Since then we've gone jogging up and down the trail by our house, across bridges, to memorials, around cities... we've just got the running fever. And it feels great!
Our latest venture was actually quite exciting, if not a little random. I found a webpage the other day about all of these lesser-known sites to see in D.C. that are kinda off the beaten path,. What a gem. One of these sites to see was a "Giant Adirondack Chair" located in front of a school in Georgetown. So, like any trained and determined athletes, Amy and I decided we were going to make this into another one of our run-by-site-seeing trips(the first was to the Lincoln Memorial). From Amy's handy dandy iPhone we learned that we could get to this gargantuan lawn chair by just taking the metro to Rosslyn and then running about a mile and a half, crossing another (you guessed it) bridge and up a few streets in Georgetown.
So, bright and early this morning that is exactly what we did. My dad, Amy and I hopped on the metro, had a jolly good time riding uncomfortably close to smelly strangers, and then at the Rosslyn metro stop we hopped back off and parted ways--my dad to work and Amy and I to be BOSS. The first mile was extremely tiring because it was 100% humidity, 70 million% hot, 0% cloudy, and 89.4% uphill. We really had to push ourselves. And by "we really had to push ourselves" I mean, "I really had to push myself, and Amy had to also push myself." 1.3 miles later we made it to the schoolyard and beheld our prize: a giant yard filled with trees (shade) and the object that inspired this morning's method of exercise, the chair.

Amy and Anne: "A mile a day keeps the doctor away", that's our motto. I wonder where we'll end up next!
