In With The New

I present to you...the Grape Leaves Roll: a surprisingly
tasty snack, despite all appearances
Since I've come to stay at my dad's, I've experienced a whole lot of new.  I've been the quiet observer of my dad and his new wife, which has been entertaining.  I've developed the new hobby of blogging, and love it.  I have tried so many foods that are new to me.  Foods that I wouldn't have thought to try without the prompting of my dad and stepmom.  I've eaten things that didn't even look like food, which has led to the new discovery of some surprisingly tasty foods which I may find myself partaking of again.  It's also led to the new sensation of having something in my mouth that I can't wait to wash down with a new piece of gum.
I've made some new  friends at the front desk of my dad's apartment.  I've found a sense of newness and purpose when waking up to the sound of construction outside my window each new day. I've set a new goal to be healthy and get in shape.  After much diligence, hard work, and persevering through many old and bitter feelings towards exercise, I've surprised myself with a new love of working out and going to the gym and all of the new results it's having on my body.  It's a really empowering feeling to love the gym.
I've developed a new cold on account of all the pet dander and who-knows-what-else that's made a new home in my dad's apartment.  It seriously looks like he hasn't layed a finger on the cleaning supplies since the last time I was here.....which was over a year ago.  Needless to say, I've got a new reserve to embark upon the adventure of cleaning this place until it's spic and span, and sparkling like brand new. So that's how I'm going to start this new and sunshine filled day out! Cleaning! If only we really could look as cute as this smiling lady to the left when cleaning.  When I clean I look more like the creature from the black lagoon.....but that's just me.  I do have one thing in common with this lady though.  I may not sport the dazzling good looks while I'm scrubbing out a toilet, but I do sport the smile! I'm probably one of the few people in America with a sick passion for cleaning.  I really love it. Once I mop, the fun don't stop!
I guess the moral to this blog post is....go do something new! I'll be the first to admit that I'm shy.  As a result of this, many people also assume that I'm someone who is timid around the new, someone who will never look forward to that which she has yet to experience.  I may be shy and quiet, but I'm all about the new! I live for new! Life is to short to sit around doing the same old thing every day.  That's why my motto in life is, "in with the new."
